it's been a wonderful couple of months admiring his involvement and growth in this personal project. i've made him a portable workstation of sorts so we can occasionally use our dining room table for dining. he's come shopping with me to pick out more colors, carefully considering the mattes vs glosses vs neons vs metallics in acrylic paint options, and he helps to choose better brushes, comparing the bristle head options and deciding what is needed for fine detail work vs fuller coverage. he's done masking and priming and spray painting, oh my! he's got a decent plastic palette with lots of wells so he can custom mix his colors to just the right shades. he's designing and experimenting and learning and enjoying himself very much. i love to watch him and listen to him as he investigates this art form - and he's gotten really quite good at it!
