sheep redux (sheared edition)

cory from lambmowers.com came out again. he brought nine adults and four lambs, all recently sheared, plus two hens for the added value of tick removal and ground scraping. there was a very light misty drizzle the entire time he was here, and (of course) it stopped after he loaded the sheep back onto the trailer. it did not dampen my spirits, though, and although i did not care to cradle a lamb this time, i did get to hold a hen.

the three redbuds and one wild cherry sapling that he identified last time had grown just enough to still tempt nibbling, so he fenced them off, but we opened up more of the area by the herb garden for grazing. next time, we'll likely fence off a smaller area with mostly grass to concentrate on, as they went for the honeysuckle and clover first. if only we could manage an overnighter with these lovely beasts, they would probably be able to tackle more of the very high grass. as it is, we'll need to use the weed whacker to bring the tops down to a height that the lawn mower won't strongly object to.

spring is evidently my favorite time of year to take photos
