make a little birdhouse in your soul
the teen and i assembled three birdhouses (from kits) earlier this month. i keep looking out my windows at where i hung/mounted them hoping to spot some happy little homemakers.
building from kits was less expensive than pre-assembled but also kind of frustrating. it's my hope to have artemis build more in the future using blueprints so we can choose our materials and cut them to fit more precisely.

the kids are amused by my ongoing struggle with the squirrels devouring the birdseed. i know it's my fault for putting in a special winter blend in for the cold and hungry avian visitors to my sanctuary space that included peanuts but didn't have hot pepper sauce on it, but, still. sheesh.
the squirrels have brought down feeder poles and disassembled feeders and are now doing acrobatics to get to the window feeder, their final obstacle to breach. in response, i've moved feeders, changed the contents, and slid window screens out of reach (i hope). i wish they'd just go to the very special squirrel feeder complete with yummy food i have set up just for them. wee beasties.
