sometimes when you watch a youtube video, you feel compelled encouraged to try it out on your own.

such was the case with this one:

ander found grant thompson, the king of random, recently and has loved the rocket fuel and paper rockets and explosive gas videos. i'm glad he can watch things like this and NOT ask to replicate them, because i'm not quite ready to work with explosives with him . . . yet.

anyhoo, when ander starts to feel comfortable with one or two videos from a certain channel, he tends to be more willing to see what else is available.  hence the slime.

he told me he really needed to make some, but i was heading out for the day to visit a relative, so i suggested he talk to daddy about the possibility.  daddy was only too happy to oblige.

i was a little disappointed that i was not around to watch them make the slime, but steve is such an awesome guy that he took pictures!  it's like he knows me or something!

add little treasures inside, like beads. fun to insert and extract.

for a couple of kids who used to hate to get dirty or touch something slimy, ander and diana are having a great time with this stuff!  steve thinks they added a bit more borax than the recipe called for, resulting in a firmer, more moldable texture, but that suits us just fine.

diana discovered that if you keep the slime in a plastic bag and keep it in the refrigerator, it can be used as a moldable ice pack.  handy.  maybe we could use some as cold packs for the cooler when we go camping.

if your kids are more likely to try something when they see other kids demonstrating/explaining it, ander also likes evan at evantubehd.
