Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else
that so beautifully furnishes a house.
~Henry Ward Beecher
books. everywhere. that way, you're never alone, because a good book is always within reach.
these were pretty much the first things i unpacked when we got the furniture in place. i wasn't even terribly particular about what went where. i did try to get mostly-ander-books to ander's room, and mostly-diana-books to diana's room. scrapbooks in the living room. everything else went . . . everywhere else. and they have been shuffled and reshuffled and moved around numerous times, often by the book fairy. i have established two entire shelves in a built-in bookcase just for our library items. there's a dedicated book bag in the back seat of the minivan, right next to diana, where she rotates out a collection of tomes we own so she has something readily available for car rides, or hanging out at the park, or at the pool (she wondered if dickens' great expectations would be appropriate fodder for such a location), or getting together with a real-live-person friend ('cause the best of friends are the ones you can sit and read with).

|the shelf halfway down the stairs was made for books, and for sitting down to read there, right?|

so what else do we read? find out here.
